What is happening is enormous, and requires the mobilization of an entire army to save our Amazon in time, and a swift agility of coordination between civil, national and international institutions. The situation is very delicate. There may be confrontations or even civil war to defend the Amazon. And the deployment of the military under the pretext of fighting the flames could very easily become a militarization of the Amazon, in favor of the industries and in repression of the defenders.
More with a "president" in command who has declared himself hostile against environmentalists, defenders, journalists and Indigenous, causing an increase in his murders, and who declared "national holiday" the rise of the military dictatorship in Brazil. If Brazil falls into dictatorship, and puts the army at the service of industrial exploitation, the entire region and the world are in danger.
And with another right-wing war in command in the United States, which has been reinforcing the military in Brazil and the region for a long time, they will not delay in crossing the border into Venezuela on behalf of their sponsor.
Moreover, Brazil has already proven violent to the possible leftist re-rise in Argentina, which could also produce war tensions. All this can bring war to South America, at a time when the American army is hungry and on the prowl of finding any new battlefield to keep its industry afloat. This would not be another war any more - this would be war for the first time since ancient times on the continent and unfolding in the most delicate and vital ecosystem on the planet.
All this was designed and planned by the forces that installed Trump. So where is the project and strategy of the so-called "left,” the scientific, ethical and intellectual proposal? The best that Americans can do at this juncture in time, to help the world and ensure the survival of everyone worldwide, is to move as quickly as possible to find a basis for their economy that is anything other than the war and to carry out this transformation immediately..."
